Express Yourself: Speak Naturally with NUMA's Fluent 23!

Posted on July 29, 2025

Are you ready to unlock your English or French speaking potential? Do you sometimes feel stuck, translating in your head instead of speaking freely? NUMA Institute's Fluent 23 is the comprehensive program designed just for you! This program combines two powerful courses, Speak 15 and Flow 8, to help you gain confidence and express yourself naturally in either English or French.

What is Fluent 23? It's the Synergy of Speak 15 and Flow 8!

Fluent 23 is a complete language program focused on helping you speak English or French easily and without constant translation. It brings together the intensive daily practice of Speak 15 with the immersive, flow-state learning of Flow 8. This powerful combination means you'll not only get consistent speaking opportunities but also learn in a way that feels natural and enjoyable. Imagine having smooth, confident conversations with colleagues, clients, and friends – that's what Fluent 23 aims to help you achieve!

Why is this combined program so good?

  • You'll communicate like a local: Both Speak 15 and Flow 8 focus on real, everyday Canadian English or French. This means you'll learn words and phrases used in offices and social gatherings in Canada. This opens up many chances for work, travel, meeting new people, and growing personally.
  • Intensive, active practice: The Speak 15 component provides daily, intensive practice, moving beyond traditional grammar exercises. You'll actively use the language through engaging debates, discussions, and games. This "active language production" is crucial for rapid progress.
  • Achieve "Flow" in your learning: Flow 8 is designed to help you reach a state of complete immersion and enjoyment while learning. It tackles common challenges like limited practice and lack of confidence by creating engaging discussions and a supportive environment where you're encouraged to speak as much as possible, actively listen, and receive immediate feedback on natural expression. This approach helps you overcome learning plateaus and accelerate your journey to fluency.
  • Small class sizes for personalized attention: Both Speak 15 and Flow 8 prioritize small group learning. With small class sizes, you get more opportunities to speak and receive personalized feedback directly from your teachers. This close interaction ensures you're always getting the support you need.
  • Learn with friends from all over the world: You'll join a friendly group of students from different countries. Everyone wants to learn and share, creating a supportive and fun environment where you can connect with peers and solidify your gains.
  • A balanced way to learn: Fluent 23's structure meticulously balances different important parts of speaking any language:
Fluency: This is about speaking smoothly and easily. Both programs prioritize this, with Flow 8 dedicating 50% to spontaneous conversation.
Accuracy: This means using correct grammar and vocabulary. While Speak 15 allocates 30% to accuracy, Flow 8 provides targeted support to refine linguistic skills and ensure clarity, dedicating 5% to accuracy, ensuring you build good habits without fear.
Connection: This is about communicating meaningfully and appropriately in different situations, including understanding cultural context. Speak 15 dedicates 40% to connection, and Flow 8 emphasizes building confidence in various scenarios (35% Connection), making sure you can express ideas effectively and naturally.
Independence: This means being able to speak confidently on your own, with Flow 8 also contributing 10% to developing communicative strategies.
  • Guidance from Diverse and Native-Level Instructors: Throughout both Speak 15 and Flow 8 sessions, your instructors are there to help you speak more naturally! After every conversation, our diverse team of instructors will gently correct your vocabulary choices and offer more native and natural ways to express your ideas. Plus, if you ever get stuck trying to find the right words or grammar, your instructor is there to offer immediate support and guidance, helping you build confidence in real time. This support is reinforced by NUMA's proprietary Guided AAA technique used by our specially trained teaching team.

How does it work?

The Fluent 23 program integrates these two powerful components: "Speak 15" sessions run from Monday to Friday mornings (10 am-12:45 pm), providing daily intensive practice. "Flow 8" sessions follow from Monday to Thursday afternoons (2-4 pm), focusing on immersive discussions and achieving that "flow state" for rapid progress. These combined sessions are designed to give you continuous opportunities to use English or French in practical, engaging situations.

Who can join?

Both Speak 15 and Flow 8, and therefore the Fluent 23 program, are open to all levels. Beginners have specific start dates, while pre-intermediate speakers and above in either English or French can start any Monday. Just make sure to register by Wednesday 3 pm the week before you want to start. You can even do the program bilingually (English & French) if you wish!

The Science Behind Your Success: How Immersion and Group Learning Work

The integrated design of Fluent 23 is not by chance – it's based on how people learn languages best! These methods are effective whether you're learning English or French.

Research shows that immersive learning is very effective for improving language skills. When you are surrounded by the language, like in the Fluent 23 program, you get constant exposure to real English or French1,2. This helps your brain naturally pick up on how the language works, making you more fluent. Studies have shown that students in immersion programs often do better in speaking and understanding compared to those in traditional classes3. This is because immersion helps you practice the language in many different real-life situations, making the learning more engaging and helping you feel more comfortable using it4.

The Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach, which is a big part of Fluent 23, focuses on using language for real communication, not just memorizing grammar rules. This means you'll do activities like role-playing and group discussions that help you practice speaking and expressing your ideas effectively, whether it's in English or French5. Research suggests that CLT helps students gain confidence and improves their ability to speak clearly and smoothly in various social situations6. It also helps reduce shyness because you get to practice in a supportive group setting7.

Speaking of groups, group learning is another powerful tool used in Fluent 23. When you learn with others, especially in the small class sizes of Speak 15 and Flow 8, you get more chances to practice speaking and interact with your classmates, regardless of the language you're studying8. Studies have found that learning in groups can significantly improve speaking fluency and confidence9. It creates a comfortable environment where you can try out new words and phrases without too much pressure, which makes you more willing to communicate10. Working together also helps you learn from each other and build strong connections, making your learning journey more enjoyable and effective11.

So, if you're ready to speak English or French with confidence and ease, NUMA Institute's Fluent 23, with its powerful combination of Speak 15 and Flow 8, offers a proven path to success. Join a friendly community of learners and experience the benefits of an immersive and communicative approach to language learning!
